OPATIJA - ISLAND KRK (L)

Bike Course: Krk – Punat - Krk | Length: 18 km | Total ascend: 120 m | Highest point: 50 m | Surface: 100% paved road | Difficulty level: 1/5

Arrival in Opatija and check-in at the harbour from 11h. Departure at 13h, followed by lunch on board on the way to the Krk island. Upon arrival, an easy ride from Krk town to the Punat village and back to Krk. Time at leisure and overnight.

ISLAND KRK (B, D)

Bike Course: Krk - Dobrinj - Vrbnik - Baška | Length: 48 km | Total ascend: 660 m | Highest point: 315 m | Surface: 90% paved road, 10% macadam | Difficulty level: 4/5

After breakfast, cycle through the Mediterranean-scented vegetation, olive groves and fig trees to the village of Dobrinj, a real museum, a synthesis of past and present. Ride through the dry-stone walls and flocks of sheep to the biggest field on the island - Vrbnik's field with its famous golden-yellow wine Žlahtina. Have a rest in Vrbnik with an optional tasting of wine, cheese and prosciutto. Continue to the saddle Treskavac with the wonderful view of Punat valley and the small island of Košljun with a Franciscan monastery dating from the 12th century. Downhill through Bašćanska Draga to Baška, by the sculptures of Glagolitic letters. Dinner on board with an overnight in Baška. Remark: In case of bad weather conditions (bura wind), end of the tour and overnight in Krk.

During breakfast, cruise towards Lopar on Rab island. The bike tour leads to a famous sandy beach bay, followed by a cycle through the interior of the island, past the wonderful Supetarska Draga in the direction of the ancient walled city of Rab with its four famous bell towers situated on an arrow-shaped spit of land. After lunch on board, afternoon cycle to the nature reserve 'Dundo' forest - one of the few surviving forests in the Mediterranean, which extends over the Kalifront peninsula. Swim stop in the picturesque St.Mara bay. Overnight in the port of Rab.

RAB - PAG - ILOVIK (B, L, CD)

After a short crossing to the island of Pag, we start a bike tour along the island's beautiful moon-like landscape. The first stop is the village of Lun with thousand years old olive trees and many stone walls. Be careful when cycling on this island due to the many wandering sheep. The island is famous for its Pag cheese. We highly recommend a break in a traditional 'konoba' tavern to taste the cheese. In the idyllic village of Mandre, we return to the ship and have lunch on board. We continue our cruise to the island of Ilovik, an island full of flowers, where we have the opportunity to walk, swim and relax. Optional Captain's dinner on board (included in Premium Superior and Premium) with an overnight in Ilovik.

ILOVIK - LOŠINJ (B, L)

Bike Course 2: Mali Lošinj - Sv. Ivan/ Providenca | Length: 22 km | Total ascend: 440 m | Highest point: 235 m | Surface: 100% paved | Difficulty level: 3/5  

After breakfast, departure towards Mali Lošinj. Bike tour through the lovely Čikat peninsula surrounded by pine trees, Mediterranean herbs and beautiful beaches. Continue to the picturesque village of Veli Lošinj and back to the vessel for lunch. Afternoon easy ride to one of the beaches or to the Sveti Ivan hill (250m) or the theme viewpoint Providenca to enjoy a fantastic view of the city and the southern part of the Lošinj archipelago.

MALI LOŠINJ - CRES (B, L)

After breakfast, cycle through the pine and laurel trees towards the Cres island (connected to Mali Losinj by a small bridge). The first stop in the artistic village of Osor. Followed by the strenuous cycling towards the fishing village of Martinšćica where lunch will be served on board. The cruise then continues towards the historic town of Cres for a free evening and overnight.

CRES - OPATIJA (B, L)

Bike Course: Mošćenička Draga - Brseč – Lovran | Length: 27 km | Total ascend: 450 m | Highest point: 325 m | Surface: 100% paved road | Difficulty level: 3/5

During breakfast, departure towards Mošćenička Draga, situated on the Opatija riviera. Upon arrival, cycle along the panoramic coastal road with spectacular views of the sea and the islands to the village of Brseč, situated on a rock above the sea. After a break, continue cycling to St Jelena hill with the stunning panorama on Kvarner bay. Descend to Mošćenice - a medieval town situated at the foot of Perun hill and further to Lovran where the vessel is waiting. Lunch on board and cruise to Opatija, for a free evening, to admire the enchanting town, walk through the famous parks or along the 12 km long sea promenade called Lungomare. Overnight in Opatija.

All KL cruise departures are guaranteed, however, if less than 20 participants are booked, Katarina line reserves the right to cancel the departure and change the ship name if the need arises

Passengers are obliged to follow the ship's rules and regulations found in written form on board, especially in regards to bringing drinks on board

In case of inappropriate behaviour, KL/captain reserves the right to ask a passenger to disembark

  • From the day of confirmation up to 45 days before arrival – advance payment (EUR 300 per person) - non-refundable
  • 44 - 30 days – 25% of the remaining balance
  • 29 - 22 days – 50% of the remaining balance
  • 21 - 0 days – 100% fee

  • KL highly recommends clients take insurance against the cancellation of reserved services!
  • KL and the captain of the vessel reserve the right to change and modify the route due to weather conditions as well as conditions in the ports visited. The order of visits may be different from those published in case of ports being overly crowded and too busy and with the scope to give the customer a better experience overall.
  • Due to specific mooring conditions and requirements in some Croatian ports, KL ships are moored side by side, making it necessary for the clients to cross from one ship to another with gaps in between ships to get to the shore. In such cases, clients need to take special care when crossing and do this at their own risk. 
  • Crew assistance will be given to those needing and requesting it. Cruise is not recommended for clients in wheelchairs or with limited mobility.

Opatija

Opatija – the pearl of the Adriatic

Opatija is the jewel of the Croatian Adriatic that is situated in the Kvarner Bay in an ideal location between the Adriatic Sea and Mountain Učka. Due to its location, mild climate and beautiful sea views from the famous Lungomare promenade, it is a desirable European destination from the very beginning of tourism development on the Adriatic.

What to see and to visit in Opatija?

1. Symbol of Opatija and Kvarner: „A girl with a seagull“
The graceful sculpture of „the Girl with the Seagull“ is located on a cliff that has an impressive view of the sea and the town, therefore it is a favorite location for taking pictures among visitors.

2. Lungomare promenade
In the small town Volosko begins the 12 km long coastal Lungomare promenade, which is ideal for long romantic walks overlooking the sea and the sunset, as well as exploring the beauties of the town and learning about its rich history and culture. While walking along this road you can see magnificent villas, monuments, beautiful pebble beaches and enjoy the fragrant coastal plants and to have rest in the shade of centuries-old oaks.

3. Croatian „Walk of fame“
Famous people who contributed to the promotion of Croatia in the world, have received their “star“ on the Croatian version of „Walk of fame“. Some of them: Dragutin Tadijanović, Miroslav Krleža, Rade Šerbedžija, Oliver Dragojević, Janica Kostelić, Dražen Petrović, Goran Ivanišević, Nikola Tesla and many others.

4. The Green Fairytale of Angiolina Park and St. Jakov Park
Opatija is also known as a "park town" whose park architecture is a blend of beautiful scenery and natural heritage. In the very center of Opatija there is the second oldest park and protected monument of park architecture - St. Jakov Park. Its creation is connected with the construction of the monastery (of Opatija) called St.Jakov that is the oldest building in Opatija after which the town of Opatija was named. In addition to the beautiful, numerous and exclusive plant species and green lawns there is also a baroque fountain with a sculpture of the Greek god Sun and Goddess of the Moon, as well as accentuated paths and stairs, the Juraj Šporer Art Pavilion, the Croatian Museum of Tourism etc.

The historical importance of one of the most award-winning parks in Croatia - Angiolina Park began in 1844 year with the construction of a Villa Angiolina. This park is famous for its exotic plants from different parts of the world, laurel, the floral symbol of the town - camellias and the Music Pavilion.

5. Natural park Učka
For all those looking for an active vacation, there is a Mountain Učka with plenty of cycling and hiking trails. Except for recreation you can enjoy the biodiversity of Učka and visit the Vela Draga Canyon with its vantage point adorned with limestone columns and fossil-obscured rocks, as well as Lovranska Draga with one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Nature Park leading by the Slap Promenade and numerous other places.

6. Croatian Museum of Tourism
In the Angiolina Park there is the permanent exhibition "Opatija - The Golden Beginning of Croatian Tourism" of the Croatian Museum of Tourism. In the museum you can find unique photographs, documents, drawings and postcards of Opatija – the items of the oldest Croatian tourist destination.
